Multi Tiered System of Support

The Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is a comprehensive framework designed to support students' academic growth as well as their social and emotional development. Within this system, Response to Intervention (RTI) plays a critical role in ensuring that students receive high-quality, meaningful core instruction in the classroom while also accessing additional targeted or intensive support when needed.

Students who require extra assistance receive Tier II or Tier III interventions, delivered by Academic Intervention Specialists and Teachers. To identify and address student needs effectively, the district utilizes a universal screening tool three times per year. Based on assessment results, students receive varying levels of support, with those requiring intensive intervention being monitored more frequently to track progress and ensure strong growth outcomes.

In addition to academic support, professional learning is a key component of MTSS. Ongoing training ensures that educators are equipped with the strategies and knowledge necessary to meet the diverse needs of all students. Furthermore, Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is integrated into the support framework, offering students proactive guidance in managing behaviors and developing essential life skills, ultimately preventing disruptions to their academic progress.

At Ossining UFSD, we recognize that family engagement is essential to student success. Parents and caregivers play an integral role in their child's learning and overall well-being. To foster collaboration, we provide workshops, training sessions, and resources to ensure families have a deep understanding of the instructional supports available in our district.
